Description

Create a beautiful and eco-friendly wreath from cornstarch dough, perfect for all ages and customizable with your own creative touches.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • Paint (acrylic or tempera) for decoration
  • Greenery or embellishments (dried flowers, ribbons)
  • Optional: food coloring for tinted dough

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch and baking soda. Gradually stir in the water until a smooth batter forms.
  2. Pour the mixture into a saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the dough thickens and pulls away from the sides.
  3. Remove from heat and allow the dough to cool slightly before kneading it until it reaches a uniform consistency.
  4. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness using a rolling pin. Use your wreath mold or a circular template to cut out the desired shape.
  5. Create decorative elements (leaves, flowers) or embed embellishments while the dough is still soft.
  6. Place the wreath on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow it to dry completely for 24-48 hours at room temperature.
  7. Once dry, customize your wreath using paint and any additional decorations. Allow the paint to fully dry before displaying.

Notes

Try different molds or freehand shapes for variety. Use natural accents for a rustic look.
