Description

Light and flaky southern biscuits perfect for any occasion, celebrating tradition and family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (cold), cut into cubes
  • ¾ cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add cold butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until just combined. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently knead the dough for about 30 seconds, then pat it to about 1-inch thickness. Use a floured biscuit cutter to cut out rounds.
  6. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure they’re close but not touching. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Notes

These biscuits can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
