Description
Light and flaky southern biscuits perfect for any occasion, celebrating tradition and family.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter (cold), cut into cubes
- ¾ cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Add cold butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until just combined. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently knead the dough for about 30 seconds, then pat it to about 1-inch thickness. Use a floured biscuit cutter to cut out rounds.
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure they’re close but not touching. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
