Description
Create a cozy crochet keychain that serves as a delightful accessory or a thoughtful gift.
Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn (approximately 100 yards total)
- Hook: H-8 (5.0 mm)
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Optional stitch markers
- Tape measure
Instructions
- Begin with a magic ring to create your initial loop. Chain 1 to secure.
- Work 6 single crochet (sc) into the magic ring. Pull on the tail of the yarn to close the ring.
- For the second round, work 2 single crochets in each stitch around. You’ll have 12 stitches at the end.
- Continue to the next round, working (1 sc, 2 sc in next stitch) all the way around for a total of 18 stitches.
- For the following round, work (2 sc, 2 sc in next stitch) to achieve a total of 24 stitches.
- For the next 4 rows, continue working one sc into each stitch.
- If desired, start a decorative edge (e.g., feather stitch or shell border) or keep it plain.
- Finish off the piece by pulling through the last stitch and weaving in the ends.
- Block the keychain flat depending on the fiber to help it retain its shape.
Notes
Check your gauge with a swatch to ensure the finished piece fits perfectly. This project can be adapted with what you have on hand, but maintain the yarn weight for sturdiness.
