Description

Bright and colorful popcorn balls coated in a sweet candy mixture, perfect for parties and family fun.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Edible glitter (optional)
  • Wax paper or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Pop the Corn: Air-pop or stovetop pop 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels until you have about 6 cups of fluffy popcorn. Spread the popcorn evenly on a baking sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Candy Coating: In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, butter, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture comes to a boil. Allow it to boil without stirring for 3-5 minutes until it reaches a light golden color.
  3. Add Flavors and Color: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Divide the candy coating into separate bowls based on the number of colors you’re using and add food coloring.
  4. Coat the Popcorn: Pour each candy mixture over the popcorn, using a spatula to gently fold and coat the popcorn in each color mixture. Mix until evenly distributed and you see vibrant colors.
  5. Form into Balls: While the mixture is still warm, lightly grease your hands with butter or cooking spray. Gather small portions of the coated popcorn and form them into balls, pressing gently to hold their shape.
  6. Add Sparkle: Roll the popcorn balls in edible glitter for extra sparkle. Place them on the prepared baking sheet to cool completely.

Notes

These popcorn balls can last for up to a week in an airtight container at room temperature.
