Description
Create a simple small sando-style pouch for glasses, a phone, or other daily essentials using the Easy Crochet Sando Pattern. This project focuses on half double crochet stitches that are easy to follow for beginners.
Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn (weight 4, medium), about 220 yards total (cotton or acrylic), or two 100 g skeins at about 170 yards per skein
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Small scissors
- Tape measure for checking gauge and finished measurements
- Two stitch markers (optional)
Instructions
- Make a slip knot and place it on your H-8 (5.0 mm) hook. Work 29 chain stitches.
- Row 1: Yarn over, insert the hook into the second chain from the hook, and work one half double crochet. Continue with one half double crochet in each chain across. You will have 28 half double crochet stitches at the end of the row.
- Chain 1 to turn. Turn your work.
- Row 2: Work one half double crochet in the first stitch and in every stitch across. You will have 28 half double crochet stitches.
- Repeat Row 2 until you have 20 rows total. Your rectangle should measure about 7 inches wide by 8 inches tall.
- When Row 20 is complete, fasten off by cutting the yarn and pulling the tail through the final loop.
- Fold the rectangle so the lower edge meets the upper edge, creating a pouch. Use optional stitch markers to hold each side in place while you sew.
- Thread the yarn needle with one yarn tail. Sew the two side seams with a simple whip stitch.
- Weave in the ends by passing the needle through the wrong side of the fabric in several directions. Trim the yarn close to the fabric.
- Turn the pouch right side out and smooth the corners with your fingers.
Notes
This project is suitable for beginners and offers a calm crafting experience. Gauge swatch is encouraged to ensure proper fabric density and size.
