Description
Create an exciting Salt Volcano with common household materials that demonstrates fun chemical reactions.
Ingredients
- Clear glass jar or container (preferably cylindrical)
- Water
- Food coloring (red, yellow, orange, etc.)
- Salt
- Baking soda
- Vinegar
- Funnel (optional)
- Spoon for stirring
Instructions
- Prepare Your Jar: Clean and dry the glass jar.
- Fill the Jar: Pour water into the jar, filling it about halfway.
- Drop in your selected food coloring and stir well until the water is evenly colored.
- Layer about 2 tablespoons of salt directly on top of the colored water.
- Add about 1 tablespoon of baking soda evenly over the salt layer.
- Slowly pour vinegar into the jar.
- Observe as the mixture starts to bubble and foam, mimicking a volcanic eruption.
Notes
Experiment with different colors and textures for a personalized volcano effect. Cleanup is easy with minimal mess.
