Description

Create an exciting Salt Volcano with common household materials that demonstrates fun chemical reactions.


Ingredients

  • Clear glass jar or container (preferably cylindrical)
  • Water
  • Food coloring (red, yellow, orange, etc.)
  • Salt
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Funnel (optional)
  • Spoon for stirring

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Jar: Clean and dry the glass jar.
  2. Fill the Jar: Pour water into the jar, filling it about halfway.
  3. Drop in your selected food coloring and stir well until the water is evenly colored.
  4. Layer about 2 tablespoons of salt directly on top of the colored water.
  5. Add about 1 tablespoon of baking soda evenly over the salt layer.
  6. Slowly pour vinegar into the jar.
  7. Observe as the mixture starts to bubble and foam, mimicking a volcanic eruption.

Notes
