Description

A delightful activity encouraging children to explore their creativity through the sensory experience of salt painting.

Ingredients

  • White school glue
  • Salt (regular kitchen salt)
  • Watercolor paints or food coloring
  • Thick paper or cardstock
  • Small containers or cups
  • A soft paintbrush
  • Old newspaper or a tray

Instructions

  1. Start by laying out some old newspaper or a tray to catch any overflow.
  2. Use the white glue to create shapes on your thick paper.
  3. Once satisfied with your glue design, gently sprinkle salt over the wet glue.
  4. After shaking off the excess salt, set aside the paper to allow the glue to dry slightly.
  5. Now comes the engaging part: mix watercolor paints or food coloring with a bit of water.
  6. Using the soft paintbrush, touch the wet tip against the salt and watch the colors spread.
  7. Allow the painting to dry fully, which could take a few hours.

Notes

Experiment with different types of salt or add glitter for a magical touch.
