Description

Create vibrant red crystal geodes inside delicate eggshells with this fun and educational DIY project.

Ingredients

  • Empty eggshells (cleaned and dried)
  • Red food coloring
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of corn syrup
  • Small pot
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Optional: glitter for extra sparkle

Instructions

  1. Clean the eggshells: Carefully rinse the eggshells and allow them to dry completely.
  2. Place on a baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and carefully set the eggshell halves upright.
  3. Heat the water: In a small pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
  4. Dissolve the sugar: Add 1 cup of sugar gradually while stirring until completely dissolved.
  5. Add corn syrup and color: Stir in 1 tablespoon of corn syrup and a few drops of red food coloring. Mix until the desired color is achieved.
  6. Pour the solution: Carefully pour the hot solution into each eggshell, filling them about 3/4 full.
  7. Let it cool: Allow the eggshells to sit undisturbed at room temperature for several hours or overnight.
  8. Crystallization: As the solution cools, crystals will begin to form inside the eggshells. Check periodically to see the growth.
