Ingredients

  • Large white coffee filters
  • Washable markers
  • Small cups or bowls for water
  • A spray bottle or small container with water
  • Scissors

  • Paper towel or absorbent cloth
  • Old newspaper or plastic sheet (for easy cleanup)

Instructions

  1. Begin by laying down an old newspaper or plastic sheet to protect your workspace.
  2. Take a coffee filter and create a vibrant pattern using markers.
  3. Fill a small cup with water or prepare a spray bottle filled with water.
  4. Slowly dip the edge of the coffee filter into the water to watch the colors mix.
  5. After blending colors to satisfaction, place the filter on a towel to dry.
  6. Once dry, fold the filter in half and then in half again to shape the wings.
  7. Secure the wings with a pipe cleaner and twist for antennas if desired.
  8. Trim the edges of the wings for a more defined butterfly shape.
