Description

Make colorful bouncy balls with simple ingredients while learning about chemistry and enjoying crafting.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of white school glue
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of borax
  • 1 tablespoon of corn starch
  • Food coloring (assorted colors)
  • Mixing bowls
  • Spoon or stirring stick
  • Baking sheet or wax paper for drying

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Lay out all materials on a clean, flat surface. Cover the area with newspaper or a mat to catch any spills.
  2. Combine Glue and Water: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of white school glue with 1 tablespoon of water. Stir well until fully mixed.
  3. Add Colors: Divide the mixture into separate bowls if using multiple colors. Add food coloring to each mix until achieving desired shades.
  4. Make the Borax Solution: In a separate bowl, mix 1/2 teaspoon of borax with 1 tablespoon of warm water until dissolved.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Pour the borax solution into the glue mixture. The mixture will start to thicken.
  6. Add Corn Starch: Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of corn starch and mix until it forms a pliable mass.
  7. Form the Balls: Use hands to knead the mixture gently and form small balls about the size of a marble.
  8. Let Dry: Place the balls on a baking sheet or wax paper and let dry for a few hours or overnight.
