Description
A delightful DIY project to paint smooth rocks into X’s and O’s for a classic game of tic tac toe, perfect for family fun.
Ingredients
- Smooth, clean rocks (10 total: 5 X’s and 5 O’s)
- Acrylic paint (assorted colors)
- Paintbrushes (various sizes)
- Clear sealant (optional for outdoor use)
- Painter’s tape (optional for precision)
- Paper palette or plate (for mixing colors)
- Water cups (for rinsing brushes)
- Paper towels (for cleanup)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Workspace: Clear a flat surface to paint and cover it with newspaper or a drop cloth. Gather all your materials nearby for easy access.
- Clean the Rocks: Wash the rocks with soap and water to remove dust. Let them dry completely before painting.
- Plan Your Design: Decide how you want to paint your X’s and O’s; sketch ideas on paper if necessary. If using tape, apply it to the rocks to create clean lines.
- Start Painting: Use acrylic paint and a medium brush to cover each rock with a base color if desired. Once dry, switch to a smaller brush to paint X’s and O’s. Experiment with different designs and colors!
- Let it Dry: Allow the painted rocks to dry completely before moving them.
- Seal the Paint (Optional): To enhance durability, especially if used outdoors, spray or brush on a layer of clear sealant after the paint has dried.
Notes
Try using glow-in-the-dark paint for added fun during evening games. Personalize each rock with patterns or seasonal themes.
