Description
Transform fresh strawberries into delightful oven-dried snacks with this simple and soothing recipe.
Ingredients
- Fresh strawberries
- A sharp knife
- A cutting board
- Baking sheets (preferably lined with parchment paper)
- An oven
- A cooling rack (optional, for crisping)
Instructions
- Prepare your strawberries: Begin by rinsing your fresh strawberries under cool water. Pat them dry gently with a soft cloth.
- Slice evenly: Place each berry on the cutting board. Slice them evenly, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Arrange on baking sheets: Line your baking sheets with parchment paper. Lay the slices flat, ensuring they don’t overlap.
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to a low temperature, around 150°F to 200°F. Allow it to preheat fully.
- Dry the strawberries: Place the baking sheets in the oven and set a timer for around 2-3 hours.
- Check occasionally: Every hour, check the strawberries; they should become less pliable but still slightly soft.
- Allow to cool: Once dried to your liking, carefully remove the trays from the oven and let the strawberries cool on a cooling rack.
- Store or enjoy: Once cool, you can store them immediately, or indulge in a few.
Notes
For added flavor, you can sprinkle cinnamon or vanilla on the strawberries before drying. They also pair beautifully with other dried fruits.
