Description
A soothing activity to craft beautiful terracotta-style pots without the need for an oven, perfect for adding a personal touch to your space.
Ingredients
- Air-dry clay
- A small bowl of water
- Simple tools for shaping (like a knife or a spoon)
- A rolling pin
- Optional: natural paint or sealants
- Optional: small plants or herbs
Instructions
- Begin by taking a generous amount of air-dry clay. Feel the coolness against your skin as you knead it briefly.
- Roll the clay into a smooth ball.
- Using the rolling pin, flatten the ball into a disk about half an inch thick.
- Cut a strip from the edges of your disk using a knife.
- Gently curve the edges up to shape the sides of your pot.
- Dip your fingers into the bowl of water and smooth any sharp points.
- Allow the pot to rest on a flat surface to dry.
- If decorating, wait until the pot is completely dry before adding natural paint or sealants.
- Finally, display or fill your pot with a small plant or herb.
Notes
If your pot cracks while drying, you can patch small cracks with water and extra clay.
