Repeat the following sequence: work 2 single crochet in the next chain-3 space, chain 3 for a picot, work 1 single crochet in the same space, then work 1 single crochet in the next double crochet. Repeat 6 times, then repeat the sequence once more as indicated. Slip stitch in the first single crochet to join. The round should contain 32 single crochet stitches and 8 chain-3 picots.
- Work Round 4. Begin a 4-double-treble cluster. Chain 7. Work a 4-double-treble cluster in the single crochet above the next double crochet on Round 2, then chain 7. Repeat around. Slip stitch in the top of the beginning cluster to join. You should have 8 clusters and 8 chain-7 spaces.
- Work Round 5. Chain 1 and work a single crochet in the same stitch. Repeat the following sequence: chain 5, work 1 treble crochet in the next chain-7 space, chain 5, then work 1 single crochet in the top of the next cluster. Repeat 6 times, then repeat the sequence once more as indicated. Slip stitch in the first single crochet to join. In the next chain-5 space, work 2 single crochet, chain 3 for a picot, 4 single crochet in the same space, another chain-3 picot, and 1 single crochet in the same space. Work 1 single crochet in the next treble crochet. Repeat this sequence 6 times, then repeat it once more as indicated. Slip stitch in the first single crochet to join. The round should contain 128 single crochet stitches and 32 chain-3 picots.
- Work Round 7. Slip stitch up to and into the second single crochet between the first and second picots. Chain 11; this counts as part of the first double-treble join and one chain-7 space. Skip the next picot. Work a 4-treble cluster in the second single crochet between the picots, then chain 7. Repeat this pattern around. Slip stitch in the fourth chain of the beginning chain-11 to join and complete the first double-treble join.
- Attach the metal ring in Round 8. Hold the metal ring behind the crochet work. Chain 1 and work in the same stitch. Repeat around: work a single crochet between the legs of the double-treble joining and over the ring, then work 17 single crochet in the next chain-7 space and over the ring. Slip stitch in the first single crochet to join. Keep the stitches close together so the metal ring is covered evenly.
- Begin Round 9. Chain 2, then work 2 double crochet in the same single crochet. The source instructions state that the remaining detailed rounds follow, but those rounds are not included in the supplied pattern information. Continue with the original pattern’s remaining rounds.
- Finish the smaller suncatcher. Fasten off and weave in the ends securely with a thread needle. Block the piece to open the lace stitches and shape the circle.
Notes
