Description
A fun and sensory DIY project for crafting vibrant, stretchy play dough that sparks imagination and creativity.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup salt (table salt works well)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (can substitute with coconut oil)
- 2 cups water
- 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
- Food coloring (various colors for swirling)
- Optional: essential oils for added scent
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, vegetable oil, cream of tartar, and water.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly until no dry flour remains.
- Transfer the mixture to a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir with a wooden spoon, watching the dough begin to clump together.
- Continue to stir the dough as it thickens.
- When the dough starts to gather into a ball, allow it to cool slightly before kneading.
- Once it’s manageable to handle, knead the dough for about five minutes.
- Divide the dough into sections for different colors.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion.
- Fold and knead each colored section separately.
- Combine the colors gently by swirling them together.
- Your play dough is ready! Store it in airtight containers.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with different colors and scents. Proper storage can keep the dough soft for several weeks.
