Description
Create vibrant Lava Lamp Jell-O Sun Catchers that brighten any window with their colorful light-catching appeal. A fun science project for all ages!
Ingredients
- 2 cups of water
- 1 packet of Jell-O (your choice of flavor/color)
- 2 packets of unflavored gelatin
- 1 cup of vegetable oil
- Clear container or jar
- Food coloring (optional)
- Whisk
- Cup for pouring
- Spoon
- Light source (like sunlight or a lamp)
Instructions
- Prepare the Jell-O Mixture: Boil 1 cup of water. In a bowl, add the Jell-O and unflavored gelatin. Pour the boiling water over the mixture. Stir thoroughly until fully dissolved.
- Create the Layered Effect: Allow the Jell-O mixture to cool slightly. In a separate clear container, carefully pour a layer of vegetable oil. Slowly pour the Jell-O mixture over the oil layer to create a lava effect.
- Set and Enjoy: Place the container in the fridge to set for at least 4-6 hours. Once fully set, move your sun catchers to a bright window and enjoy the stunning colors!
Notes
Experiment with different flavors and food colorings. Use different jar shapes for varied aesthetics. Add glow-in-the-dark paint for a whimsical touch!
