Description
A fun and nostalgic treat that combines candy-coated apples with vibrant Kool-Aid flavors, perfect for parties and celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 packet (0.14 oz) of Kool-Aid (flavor of your choice)
- Candy thermometer
- Wooden sticks (lollipop or popsicle sticks)
- Parchment paper
- Food-safe gloves (optional)
Instructions
- Wash the apples: Rinse the apples under cool water to remove any wax or residues, then pat them dry with a towel.
- Insert sticks: Push a wooden stick into the center of each apple, ensuring it goes deep enough to secure it.
- Combine ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar, corn syrup, and water.
- Cook the mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Monitor temperature: Use a candy thermometer to check the temperature. Continue cooking without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Add Kool-Aid: Once the desired temperature is reached, remove from heat and quickly stir in the Kool-Aid powder until fully incorporated.
- Dip apples: Quickly dip each apple into the hot candy coating, swirling to ensure an even coat.
- Cool down: Place the coated apple upright on a piece of parchment paper to cool and harden.
Notes
Experiment with different Kool-Aid flavors and consider adding sprinkles or a chocolate drizzle for additional flair.
