Description
A fun and vibrant twist on the classic candy apple, coated in sugary candy shell infused with Kool-Aid flavors.
Ingredients
- 6 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or red delicious)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 package (1 oz) Kool-Aid powder (any flavor)
- Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers
- Cooking spray
- Parchment paper
- Candy thermometer
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples to remove any wax coating.
- Insert a lollipop stick into the stem end of each apple.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir to combine.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil without stirring.
- Clip a candy thermometer to the side of the pot and continue boiling until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the Kool-Aid powder until fully dissolved.
- Quickly dip each apple into the syrup, swirling for an even coat.
- Set the coated apples on parchment paper to cool and harden.
Notes
Experiment with different Kool-Aid flavors and add sprinkles or crushed nuts for extra texture.
