Description

Ingredients
- 85 yards of worsted weight cotton blend yarn (weight 4 medium)
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- One 7-inch zipper
- Yarn needle with a large eye
- Small scissors
- Tape measure
- One stitch marker (optional)
- Matching sewing thread
- Hand-sewing needle
Instructions
- Chain 29 to make the foundation chain.
- Work 1 hdc in the second chain from the hook and in each remaining chain for a total of 28 hdc.
- Chain 1 for the turning chain and turn the work.
- Work 1 hdc in each stitch across for rows 2 through 24, maintaining 28 hdc at the end of each row.
- After row 24, chain 1 and turn, then work a border by placing 1 sc in each stitch across the top edge.
- Continue with 1 sc in the end of each row along the side, 1 sc in each foundation-chain stitch along the bottom, and 1 sc in the end of each row along the second side, placing 2 sc in each corner.
- Join with a sl st to the first sc and fasten off, leaving an 8-inch tail.
- Fold the rectangle so the bottom edge meets the top edge, with the wrong side facing out.
- Sew the two side seams with small whipstitches, catching both layers.
- Turn the pouch right side out.
- Place the 7-inch zipper along the top opening, centering it, and then pin it.
- Hand-sew the zipper to the crocheted edge with matching sewing thread, testing the zipper after attaching one side.
- If needed, gently pull back any mistakes one row at a time to correct.
- Close the zipper and check the shape, adjusting if necessary by dampening and smoothing it.
- Trim any remaining tails after ensuring the seams and zipper are secure.
