Ingredients
- Coffee filters (regular or large)
- Water-based markers or food coloring
- Safe scissors for children
- Glue (liquid or glue sticks)
- Pipe cleaners or floral wire
- Small bowls or containers
- A tray or workspace covered with newspaper
- Optional: glitter, beads, or buttons
Instructions
- Begin by laying out your coffee filters on a flat workspace.
- If you want to add color, use markers to draw patterns on the filters.
- For a watercolor effect, fill bowls with water and add food coloring; dip the edges of the filters.
- Once you’ve colored your filters, allow them to dry completely.
- After drying, stack a few filters together.
- Fold the stack of filters in half, then in half again.
- Use scissors to round off the edges, shaping the petals.
- Carefully unfold the filters to reveal a delicate flower shape.
- To create a stem, wrap a pipe cleaner or floral wire around the base of your flowers.
- Optionally, add any extra decorations like buttons or glitter.
Notes
These flowers can last many seasons if stored properly; consider wrapping them in tissue paper for safekeeping.
