A calming and creative guide to making beautiful Borax crystals using simple materials.
Ingredients
- Borax (sodium borate)
- Water (hot)
- Clear glass container (jar or bowl)
- String or pipe cleaner
- Pencil or stick
- Optional: food coloring
Instructions
- Begin by boiling about a cup of water.
- Once the water is boiling, carefully pour it into your chosen glass container.
- Slowly add about three tablespoons of Borax to the water, stirring gently.
- If you decide to add food coloring, do so now.
- Cut a piece of string or pipe cleaner.
- Tie one end of the string to a pencil or stick.
- Place your creation somewhere undisturbed for at least 24 hours.
- After a day, carefully lift the string out.
- Rinse the crystals gently under cool water.
- Allow your crystals to dry on a paper towel.
Notes
Store crystals in a dry, cool place and reuse the Borax solution for new crystals by adding fresh water and Borax.
