Description

A calming and creative guide to making beautiful Borax crystals using simple materials.

Ingredients

  • Borax (sodium borate)
  • Water (hot)
  • Clear glass container (jar or bowl)
  • String or pipe cleaner
  • Pencil or stick
  • Optional: food coloring

Instructions

  1. Begin by boiling about a cup of water.
  2. Once the water is boiling, carefully pour it into your chosen glass container.
  3. Slowly add about three tablespoons of Borax to the water, stirring gently.
  4. If you decide to add food coloring, do so now.
  5. Cut a piece of string or pipe cleaner.
  6. Tie one end of the string to a pencil or stick.
  7. Place your creation somewhere undisturbed for at least 24 hours.
  8. After a day, carefully lift the string out.
  9. Rinse the crystals gently under cool water.
  10. Allow your crystals to dry on a paper towel.

Notes

Store crystals in a dry, cool place and reuse the Borax solution for new crystals by adding fresh water and Borax.
