Ingredients
- 4 ripe peaches
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups cornstarch (for coating)
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and peel the peaches. Slice them into 1-inch thick wedges.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Bring to a gentle boil until sugar dissolves completely. Add peach slices to the saucepan and simmer for about 10-15 minutes until tender.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove peaches from syrup, letting excess syrup drip. Place peaches on a cooling rack for 1-2 hours to dry out a bit.
- In a bowl, place cornstarch. Roll each peach slice in cornstarch until fully coated.
- Place the coated peach slices back on the rack and let them dry for an additional 24 hours until they firm up.
