Ingredients
- About 190 yards of worsted weight yarn, weight 4, medium
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle

Instructions
- Chain 29 with the main color yarn to create a foundation chain.
- Work 1 half double crochet (hdc) in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across, totaling 28 hdc. Chain 1 and turn.
- For rows 2 through 18, work 1 hdc in each stitch across, chain 1 and turn after each row, maintaining 28 hdc per row.
- Fold the rectangle with the right side facing you, leaving the top 1 inch open as a flap. Place stitch markers through both side edges.
- Join the side seams with single crochet (sc), working 18 sc on each side.
- Turn the case right side out and check its fit with the phone. Adjust if necessary.
- For each cat applique, chain 7, then work 1 sc in the second chain from the hook and across for 6 sc. Chain 1 and turn, then work 2 rows of 6 sc.
- Decrease the last row to 5 stitches by working 1 sc decrease over the first 2 stitches and 1 sc in each remaining stitch.
- Shape the ears by working 1 sc, chain 1, then slip stitch and sc across the first ear section. Fasten off.
- Sew the cat appliques onto the front of the case using a yarn needle.
- Add features like noses, mouths, and whiskers using black embroidery floss. Ensure the stitches are flat but not too tight.
- Optional: Work one round of sc around the top edge for a cleaner finish.
- Weave in all ends and block the case as needed depending on the yarn type.
