Description
A small amigurumi project that creates a charming pumpkin cat, perfect for Halloween decorations or gifts.
Ingredients
- 120 yards worsted weight yarn in orange or another pumpkin color
- 10 yards worsted weight yarn in green for the stem
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- 2 ounces (57 g) polyester fiberfill
- two 12 mm safety eyes
- small amount of black embroidery yarn
- yarn needle
- sharp scissors
- one stitch marker (optional)

Instructions
- Make a magic ring and chain 1, then work 6 single crochet into the ring. Pull the yarn tail gently to close the center.
- Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet. You have 6 stitches.
- Round 2: Work 2 single crochet in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first stitch. You have 12 stitches.
- Round 3: Work 1 single crochet in the first stitch, then 2 single crochet in the next stitch. Repeat around. You have 18 stitches.
- Round 4: Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, then 2 single crochet in the next stitch. Repeat around. You have 24 stitches.
- Rounds 5 through 8: Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around for four rounds, maintaining 24 stitches.
- Round 9: Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, then single crochet 2 stitches together. Repeat around. You have 18 stitches.
- Round 10: Work 1 single crochet in the first 2 stitches, then single crochet 2 stitches together. Repeat around. You have 12 stitches. Add the safety eyes between Rounds 7 and 8.
- Stuff the body gradually with polyester fiberfill, ensuring it feels full but not hard.
- Round 11: Single crochet 2 stitches together around until you have 6 stitches. Fasten off, leaving a six-inch tail.
- Thread the yarn needle with the tail and weave through the front loops of the remaining 6 stitches. Pull tight to close the opening and secure.
- Make each ear separately by chaining 7, then single crocheting across and decreasing in subsequent rows until 2 stitches remain.
- Sew the ears in place on the head and add an embroidered nose and whiskers as desired.
- For the stem, chain 5 in green yarn, slip stitch across, and sew it to the top of the pumpkin body.
Notes
Wash this acrylic pumpkin cat by hand or on a gentle cycle with cold water. Allow to dry flat to maintain shape.
