Description
Create a delightful mini amigurumi pumpkin charm that can hang from keyrings or festive decorations. This simple crochet pattern is perfect for beginners and makes for great seasonal gifts.
Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn, weight 4 medium, acrylic, about 35 yards total from one skein of about 170 yards per 100 g skein (orange for the pumpkin)
- A small amount of worsted weight yarn, weight 4 medium, acrylic, about 5 yards from the same skein (green or brown for the stem)
- One H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Polyester fiberfill, about 0.25 ounce (7 g)
- Yarn needle for weaving in the ends
- Small scissors
- One stitch marker, optional
- One small key ring or split ring for attaching the charm
Instructions
- Make a magic ring, or chain 2 and work the first round into the second chain from the hook.
- Round 1: Work 6 single crochet into the magic ring. Pull the yarn tail to close the center and place your marker in the first stitch.
- Round 2: Work 2 single crochet in each stitch around. You should have 12 stitches.
- Round 3: Work 1 single crochet in the next stitch, then 2 single crochet in the following stitch. Repeat that sequence around for 18 stitches.
- Round 4: Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around for 18 stitches.
- Round 5: Work 1 single crochet in the next 2 stitches, then 2 single crochet in the next stitch. Repeat around for 24 stitches.
- Round 6: Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around for 24 stitches.
- Round 7: Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, then 2 single crochet in the next stitch. Repeat around for 30 stitches.
- Rounds 8 through 12: Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around for 30 stitches in every round.
- Round 13: Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, then make 1 decrease. Repeat around for 24 stitches.
- Round 14: Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around for 24 stitches. Add small pinches of polyester fiberfill now.
- Round 15: Work 1 single crochet in the next 2 stitches, then make 1 decrease. Repeat around for 18 stitches.
- Round 16: Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around for 18 stitches.
- Round 17: Make 1 decrease in each pair of stitches around for 9 stitches. Add the last small pinch of fiberfill.
- Round 18: Make 1 decrease in each pair of stitches around for 4 stitches. Cut the orange yarn, leaving an 8-inch tail.
- Thread the tail onto your yarn needle, weave it through the front loops of the remaining stitches, pull the opening closed, and take the needle through the body before trimming.
- Make the stem with green or brown yarn: chain 4 and slip stitch in the second chain from the hook and in each remaining chain. Fasten off, leaving a 6-inch tail.
- Sew the stem to the top of the pumpkin and attach the key ring.
