- 3 tablespoons Epsom salt
- 1 cup hot water (not boiling)
- Food coloring (optional, for colorful crystal formations)
- A small mixing bowl
- A spoon for stirring
- A tray or plate to hold the shells during the process
Instructions
- Select your seashells and rinse them gently under warm water to remove any sand or debris, then pat them dry.
- Combine one cup of hot water with three tablespoons of Epsom salt in a small mixing bowl. Stir gently until the salt fully dissolves.
- Add food coloring if desired, stirring slowly to watch the color blend.
- Dip each seashell into the mixture or spoon the solution inside larger shells.
- Place the shells on a tray or plate in a dry, warm area and observe the crystals forming over the next few hours or days.
- Once the crystals have formed, gently brush off any excess salt to reveal the decorations.
Notes
Store dried shells in a gentle, dry place. If they get wet, air dry completely before display.
