Description

A fun and engaging craft activity for preschool kids to create beautiful coffee filter flowers using watercolor paints and simple materials.

Ingredients

  • Coffee filters
  • Watercolor paints (or food coloring)
  • Small bowls or a tray for mixing colors
  • A spray bottle
  • Pipe cleaners (or green floral wire)
  • Scissors
  • Old newspaper or tablecloth for workspace protection

Instructions

  1. Begin by laying out your coffee filters on an easy-to-clean surface.
  2. Using the watercolor paints, create a palette of colors in bowls.
  3. Invite the kids to brush or sponge the colors onto the coffee filters.
  4. Once the colors settle, gently mist the filters with a spray bottle of water.
  5. Allow the filters to dry completely before moving on.
  6. Once dry, stack several coffee filters and twist them in the center to shape petals.
  7. Take a pipe cleaner and wrap it around the center, securing the petals.
  8. Finally, shape the petals outward for a blossoming effect.

Notes

Encourage creativity by trying different colors, adding decorations, or making various flower types.
