Description
These little crochet ghosts are a soothing project that allows you to enjoy the calming rhythm of crochet while creating adorable decorations for the fall season.
Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn (weight 4, medium), about 35 yards (21 g) for one ghost
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for sewing seams and weaving in ends
- Small scissors
- One stitch marker (optional)
- Tape measure
- Polyester fiberfill, about 1 ounce (28 g) or less
- Black embroidery floss or a small amount of black yarn for the face
- Embroidery needle
Instructions
- Make a foundation chain by chaining 16.
- Row 1: Chain 2, work 1 double crochet into the third chain from the hook and into each chain across.
- Rows 2 through 8: Chain 2, turn, and work 1 double crochet into each stitch across.
- At the end of Row 8, fasten off and leave a yarn tail about 18 inches (46 cm) long.
- Fold the rectangle in half so the first and last rows meet.
- Sew the side edges together with small, even stitches.
- Weave the needle around the edge stitches and gently pull to gather the top closed, adding extra stitches to secure.
- Turn the pouch right side out and add small pinches of polyester fiberfill.
- Thread a fresh yarn tail through the lower edge stitches and gather closed.
- For the face, thread black embroidery floss onto the embroidery needle and stitch small eyes and a mouth.
Notes
Acrylic yarn is recommended for ease of washing and crafting.
