Description
Create a stunning frosted green crystal tree using simple materials and the fascinating science of crystallization.
Ingredients
- Green pipe cleaners
- 3 tablespoons Borax (sodium borate)
- 1 cup boiling water
- A glass or plastic container (wide and deep)
- String
- Stick or pencil (for hanging the tree)
- Optional: glitter for added sparkle
Instructions
- Shape the Tree: Twist green pipe cleaners together to form a tree shape, ensuring to spread the branches wide for better crystal growth.
- Mix the Borax Solution: In a container, combine Borax with boiling water and stir until dissolved. Optional: add a few drops of green food coloring.
- Hang the Tree: Tie a string to the top of the tree and attach it to a stick or pencil. Lower it into the Borax solution without touching the bottom.
- Wait and Observe: Place the container in a cool, undisturbed area and let it sit for 24 hours to allow crystals to form.
- Remove and Dry: After 24 hours, carefully remove the tree and allow excess liquid to drip off. Optionally, sprinkle with glitter.
