Description

Make enchanting salt dough stars that are perfect for decorations and gifting. A fun and easy DIY project for all ages.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutters (star shapes recommended)
  • Acrylic paint (for decorating)
  • Paintbrushes
  • String or ribbon (for hanging)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 cup of salt.
  2. Gradually add 1 cup of water while stirring until a dough forms; it should be smooth and pliable.
  3. Knead the dough on a clean surface for about 5 minutes, dusting with more flour if needed.
  4. Use a rolling pin to flatten out the dough to about ¼ inch thick.
  5. Cut shapes from the dough using star-shaped cookie cutters and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and bake the stars for 2-3 hours until completely dry.
  7. Allow them to cool completely.
  8. Decorate using acrylic paint and let them dry.
  9. Thread string or ribbon through the holes and tie a knot for hanging.
