Description

A fun and educational craft project that combines creativity and science to create colorful fizzing rocks.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • Various food coloring
  • Water (for activation)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Muffin tin or silicone molds
  • Measuring cups
  • Spoon for mixing
  • Optional: Glitter for extra sparkle


Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine baking soda and citric acid, mixing well.
  2. Add a few drops of food coloring and stir until incorporated.
  3. If desired, mix in glitter for sparkle.
  4. Gradually add water until you achieve a damp mixture that holds together.
  5. Pack the mixture tightly into muffin tin or silicone molds.
  6. Let them dry for at least 24 hours.
  7. Once dried, pop out the fizzing lava rocks from the molds.
  8. To use, place a rock in a bowl and pour water over it to see the fizzing reaction!

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring and essential oils for unique scents and effects.
