Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup salt
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
- Food coloring (optional)
- Flavoring extracts (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Stir well to ensure even distribution.
- In a separate bowl, mix water with vegetable oil and any desired flavoring extracts. If using food coloring, add a few drops to this mixture.
- Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients while stirring constantly. Continue to mix until a dough starts to form.
- Transfer the dough mixture into a non-stick saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the dough thickens and forms a ball. When it pulls away from the sides of the pan, it’s ready.
- Turn the dough onto a clean surface and let it cool slightly. Once it’s cool enough to handle, knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
Notes
Store any excess play dough in an airtight container to maintain freshness. Supervise younger children during play.
