Description

Transform old light bulbs into whimsical butterfly and flower lanterns that bring the warmth of spring into your home.

Ingredients

  • Old light bulbs (clear glass works best)
  • Acrylic paints (vibrant colors you love)
  • Paintbrushes (various sizes for detail and coverage)
  • Mod Podge or a similar craft glue (for sealing)
  • Tissue paper in your chosen colors (yellows, blues, pinks for flowers and butterflies)
  • Scissors (sharp enough to cut cleanly)
  • Wire or twine (for hanging your lanterns)
  • LED tea light candles (for safety)
  • Optional: glitter or decorative beads (for a touch of sparkle)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Create a calming environment with newspaper or an old cloth to catch spills.
  2. Clean the Bulbs: Gently wash and dry to remove dust or residue.
  3. Select Your Design: Choose a color palette and sketches of butterflies and flowers.
  4. Cut the Tissue Paper: Snip out shapes from the tissue paper.
  5. Paint the Bulbs: Use acrylic paint to decorate the bulb’s surface.
  6. Apply Tissue Paper: Adhere the shapes with Mod Podge once dry.
  7. Seal with Mod Podge: Brush another layer over the entire bulb.
  8. Add Decorative Touches: Attach glitter or beads for charm.
  9. Attach Wire or Twine: Secure around the neck of each bulb.
  10. Insert LED Lights: Safely place LED tea light candles inside the bulbs.

Notes

Ensure to store gently in a padded container to prolong their life. Remold paint for new designs when desired.
