Description

Create a mesmerizing DIY Lava Lamp Suncatcher that brings colors and light to your space, inviting relaxation and joy.

Ingredients

  • Clear plastic bottle (12-16 oz)
  • Distilled water (about 1 cup)
  • Cooking oil (1/2 cup)
  • Food coloring (multiple colors)
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets (optional)
  • Glitter or small decorative beads (optional)
  • Funnel
  • Scissors
  • Small bowl

Instructions

  1. Begin with your clear plastic bottle. Clean it well to make sure the colors can shine bright without any residue.
  2. Using the funnel, fill the bottle with about one cup of distilled water.
  3. Slowly pour in the cooking oil, observing how the oil sits atop the water.
  4. Add a few drops of food coloring over the oil.
  5. If you choose, sprinkle in some glitter or small decorative beads.
  6. Slightly break the Alka-Seltzer tablet into smaller pieces and drop them in one by one.
  7. Secure the cap tightly onto the bottle.
  8. Shake the bottle gently to combine the colors and activate the bubbles.
  9. Find a sunny spot in your home to display the suncatcher.

Notes

Store the suncatcher in a cool, dry place away from sunlight to maintain color vibrancy. Refresh the look by shaking gently or refilling with new colors.
