Description

Make colorful DIY gelatin suncatchers that catch sunlight and bring joy to your space.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unflavored gelatin
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • Food coloring (your choice)
  • Clear plastic lids or shallow trays
  • Scissors (for cutting shapes)
  • String or fishing line (for hanging)
  • Optional: dried flowers, leaves, or glitter

Instructions

  1. Start by boiling water.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the gelatin with the boiling water, stirring slowly until completely dissolved.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding food coloring.
  4. Pour a layer of the gelatin mixture into the clear plastic lids or trays.
  5. Add in any decorations like leaves or flowers, if desired.
  6. Continue adding subsequent layers for depth.
  7. Let the suncatchers sit undisturbed until firm; this may take several hours.
  8. Once set, remove them from the molds.
  9. Cut shapes from the gelatin, if desired.
  10. Attach the string or fishing line for hanging.
  11. Hang your creations in a spot where they catch the light.

Notes

Store suncatchers in a cool, dry place to prolong their lifespan. They are biodegradable, making it easy to discard old ones.
