Ingredients
- 1 cup unflavored gelatin
- 2 cups boiling water
- Food coloring (your choice)
- Clear plastic lids or shallow trays
- Scissors (for cutting shapes)
- String or fishing line (for hanging)
- Optional: dried flowers, leaves, or glitter
Instructions
- Start by boiling water.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the gelatin with the boiling water, stirring slowly until completely dissolved.
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding food coloring.
- Pour a layer of the gelatin mixture into the clear plastic lids or trays.
- Add in any decorations like leaves or flowers, if desired.
- Continue adding subsequent layers for depth.
- Let the suncatchers sit undisturbed until firm; this may take several hours.
- Once set, remove them from the molds.
- Cut shapes from the gelatin, if desired.
- Attach the string or fishing line for hanging.
- Hang your creations in a spot where they catch the light.
Notes
Store suncatchers in a cool, dry place to prolong their lifespan. They are biodegradable, making it easy to discard old ones.
