Description

Create beautiful DIY gelatin suncatchers that capture sunlight and add color to your space, offering a therapeutic crafting experience.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • Colorful flower petals (fresh or dried, optional)
  • Mason jar or shallow dish
  • Cooking spray
  • String (for hanging, if desired)
  • Scissors (to cut string to length)

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your workspace. Choose a quiet spot where you can relax and enjoy the process.
  2. In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of unflavored gelatin with 1 cup of boiling water. Stir gently until the gelatin dissolves completely.
  3. Add 1 cup of cold water to the gelatin mixture, continuing to stir softly.
  4. If you desire, you can add a few drops of food coloring to create a lovely hue.
  5. Spray the mason jar or dish lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  6. Now, place your flower petals into the jar or dish.
  7. Pour the gelatin mixture over the petals in the dish.
  8. Allow the mixture to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour until it sets.
  9. Once set, gently remove the suncatcher from the jar, taking care not to break the edges.
  10. If desired, cut a length of string and attach it to your suncatcher for hanging.

Notes

Store your suncatcher in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat. They can last for several weeks if cared for properly.
