Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons Borax (sodium borate)
- 1 cup Water
- Food coloring (optional)
- Clear glass jars or containers
- A spoon
- String or pipe cleaners
- Pencil or stick (for hanging the crystals)
- Heat source (stove or microwave)
- Measuring cups and spoons
Instructions
- Prepare Your Solution: Boil about 1 cup of water in a pot. Stir in 3 tablespoons of borax until dissolved.
- Prepare Your Crystals: Shape the string or pipe cleaners into desired shapes. Tie one end to the shape and the other to a pencil for balancing.
- Combine: Carefully pour the borax solution into clear glass jars and submerge the shaped strings without touching the bottom.
- Let it Grow: Place jars in a quiet spot for 24 hours and observe crystal growth.
- Finish Up: After 24-48 hours, remove the crystals and let them dry on a paper towel.
Notes
Experiment with different colors and shapes for a unique look. Use hotter water for larger crystals.
