Description

A fun and engaging project to create stunning crystal flowers using simple materials, merging art with science.


Ingredients

  • Pipe cleaners (in your choice of colors)
  • Boiling water
  • Borax (1 cup)
  • A glass jar or bowl
  • String (optional, for hanging)
  • Scissors (for trimming pipe cleaners)


Instructions

  1. Choose your favorite colors of pipe cleaners and twist them into flower shapes.
  2. Boil water and measure 1 cup, pouring it into your glass jar or bowl.
  3. Slowly add Borax, stirring continuously until fully dissolved.
  4. Tie the flower shape to a pencil or stick and suspend it in the jar above the bottom.
  5. Dip the flower into the Borax solution, ensuring it is fully submerged.
  6. Place the jar in a location that won’t be disturbed for 6-24 hours.
  7. Remove the flower and rinse gently under cold water to remove excess Borax.
  8. Allow it to dry on a paper towel.

Notes

Experiment with food coloring for colorful crystals and try different shapes for added creativity.
