Description

Brighten your space with fun and eco-friendly DIY Crayon Suncatchers that are perfect for families and kids.

Ingredients

  • Old crayons (any color)
  • Wax paper
  • Parchment paper
  • Iron
  • Scissors
  • String or ribbon (for hanging)
  • Optional: cookie cutter shapes (for fun designs)

Instructions

  1. Gather your old crayons and peel off the wrappers.
  2. Break the crayons into small pieces, about 1-inch long.
  3. Cut two pieces of wax paper slightly larger than your desired suncatcher size.
  4. Place one piece of wax paper on a flat, heat-resistant surface.
  5. Spread the broken crayon pieces evenly on one half of the wax paper.
  6. Fold the other half of the wax paper over the crayon pieces.
  7. Place a piece of parchment paper over the wax paper.
  8. Preheat your iron to a low setting (no steam!).
  9. Gently press the iron onto the parchment paper for a few seconds. Move it around until the crayons melt evenly.
  10. Allow it to cool for a moment before removing the parchment paper.
  11. Once cooled, carefully peel apart the wax paper.
  12. Use scissors to cut out your desired shapes.
  13. Punch a hole at the top of your suncatcher.
  14. Thread a string or ribbon through the hole for hanging.

Notes

Experiment with different color combinations and add glitter for extra sparkle.
