Description
Make a calm crochet phone case with easy US stitches, worsted acrylic yarn, clear counts, and gentle care instructions for daily use.
Ingredients
- Worsted weight yarn, weight 4 medium, 100% acrylic, about 180 yards total
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook, with half a size up or down fine depending on your tension
- Yarn needle for weaving in the ends
- Sharp scissors
- Tape measure
- One stitch marker, optional, for marking the flap fold
Instructions
- Make a slip knot and place it on your H-8 (5.0 mm) hook.
- Chain 18 to create the foundation chain.
- Row 1: Yarn over, insert the hook into the third chain from the hook, and work one double crochet. Continue with one double crochet in each remaining chain across. You will have 16 double crochet stitches.
- Row 2: Chain 2 to turn. Work one double crochet in each stitch across, placing the first stitch into the top of the first double crochet from Row 1. You will have 16 double crochet stitches.
- Repeat Row 2 until you have 14 rows total.
- Check the width before continuing; the piece should measure close to 4 inches wide and the row count should measure close to 7 inches long.
- Fold the lower portion upward so the bottom edge meets the fabric after Row 10.
- Join the side seams with single crochet, working 10 single crochet evenly through both layers up the first side, then repeat on the other side.
- Fasten off after the second side seam and leave a 6-inch tail. Weave in the end.
- Fold the flap down over the pocket and check its position for evenness.
- For a simple closure, sew a small button to the front center of the pocket, then make a loop from 10 chains and sew the loop to the flap center.
- Finish by weaving in every remaining end and smooth the case flat.
