Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of gelatin (plant-based substitute if needed)
  • 1 cup of corn syrup
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Mixing bowl
  • A spoon
  • Wax paper or silicone baking mat
  • Cookie cutters or molds
  • A straw
  • Scissors


Instructions

  1. Begin by measuring 1 cup of water and pouring it into your mixing bowl.
  2. Sprinkle 4 tablespoons of gelatin over the water and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add 1 cup of corn syrup and stir the mixture gently.
  4. Pour a few drops of food coloring into the mix and stir to combine.
  5. Spread the bioplastic mixture onto your wax paper or silicone mat.
  6. Press cookie cutters or molds into the mixture to create shapes.
  7. Let the creations dry for at least 24 hours.
  8. Peel the suncatchers from the paper or mat once dried.
  9. Use string or twine to hang them in sunlit areas.
