Description

Create beautiful and eco-friendly bioplastic suncatchers using simple ingredients that catch the light.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon of light corn syrup
  • Food coloring (assorted colors)
  • Molds or cookie cutters
  • A spatula or spoon
  • A non-stick surface (parchment paper or silicone mat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace: Lay down a non-stick surface.
  2. Mix the ingredients: Combine water, cornstarch, and corn syrup in a pot and stir until smooth.
  3. Heat the mixture: Place the pot over low medium heat and stir until thickened and translucent.
  4. Add color: When the mixture gels, add food coloring and stir gently.
  5. Pour into molds: Remove from heat and pour into molds or use cookie cutters.
  6. Add decorations: Place leaves or petals delicately into the mixture.
  7. Let it set: Allow to cool at room temperature.
  8. Remove and display: Gently pull the suncatchers from molds once set.

Notes

For best results, keep the suncatchers out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.
