Description

A joyful project to create colorful bioplastic suncatchers that brighten up any cozy space.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
  • Natural food coloring or plant-based dyes (optional)
  • 1 saucepan
  • 1 spatula or spoon
  • Wax paper or silicone mat
  • Cookie cutters or molds (optional)
  • Scissors (if needed)

Instructions

  1. Combine two tablespoons of cornstarch and one cup of water in your saucepan.
  2. Place the saucepan over gentle heat, stirring continuously.
  3. Once the mixture begins to thicken, add natural food coloring.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat once you reach your desired thickness.
  5. Lay out your wax paper or silicone mat for pouring.
  6. Pour the mixture onto the mat, using molds or letting it flow organically.
  7. Allow the suncatchers to cool and harden for several hours.
  8. Peel the suncatchers from the surface or molds once cooled.
  9. Trim any uneven edges with scissors as needed.
  10. Display your suncatchers where sunlight can bring them to life.

Notes

Store your suncatchers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use to preserve their colors.
