Description

Create a beautiful bioplastic sun catcher to invite light and color into your home while enjoying a calming crafting experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • Optional: food coloring or natural dyes
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Shapes or cookie cutters for molding
  • String or wire for hanging

Instructions

  1. Begin by pouring the water into a small pot.
  2. Place it gently over low heat, allowing the calm warmth to rise.
  3. Gradually mix in the corn syrup, stirring slowly with a spoon.
  4. Sprinkle in the cornstarch, stirring steadily until thickened.
  5. Add food coloring or natural dye if desired, stirring gently.
  6. Raise the heat slightly and keep stirring as the mixture warms and begins to bubble for about 2-4 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool for a moment.
  8. Spread parchment paper on a baking sheet and lay out cookie cutters or pour the mixture.
  9. Allow the poured mixture to cool and set for about one to two hours.
  10. Once cooled, carefully remove from parchment paper and create a small hole for hanging.
  11. Add string or wire and hang in a light-catching window.

Notes

Your sun catcher can last several months with proper care. Store it in a cool, dry place to prevent fading.
