Description

A fun and engaging project to create dinosaur fossil imprints using air-dry clay or homemade dough.

Ingredients

  • Air-dry clay or homemade dough
  • Small dinosaur toys for imprinting (optional)
  • Cookie cutters (any shapes you like)
  • Plastic rolling pin or a smooth bottle
  • Optional paint or markers for decorating
  • Paintbrushes (if using paint)
  • Sealant for finished pieces (if desired)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace: Lay down newspaper or a clean cloth to keep your area tidy.
  2. Knead the clay: Take your air-dry clay or dough and knead it with your hands.
  3. Roll it out: Using a rolling pin or bottle, gently roll your clay to about half an inch thick.
  4. Imprint your designs: Press the small dinosaur toys into the rolled clay.
  5. Cut out the fossils: Use cookie cutters to create various fossil shapes.
  6. Add details: Use a tool or your fingers to add depth to your creations.
  7. Cure and dry: Place your fossils on a flat surface to dry according to the clay’s instructions.
  8. Decorate (optional): Once dry, paint or color your fossils as desired.
  9. Finish with a seal (optional): Apply a sealant to protect your painted fossils.

Notes

These fossils can serve as decorations or unique gifts. They are safe for children but should be supervised during the project.
