Ingredients
- Borax (1 cup)
- Hot water (2 cups)
- A clean glass jar (pint-sized)
- Pipe cleaners (assorted colors)
- A pencil or stick (for suspending the star)
- String (optional for hanging)
- Food coloring (optional for added color)
Instructions
- Shape Your Pipe Cleaners: Take several pipe cleaners and twist them together to form a star shape. Bend and mold them until you’re satisfied with the structure.
- Attach the String: If you want to hang your star, tie a piece of string to one point of the star, securing it well.
- Boil the Water: Heat up 2 cups of water until it’s boiling.
- Mix Borax: Carefully add 1 cup of Borax to the boiling water, stirring continuously until it completely dissolves.
- Add Color: If you want, add a few drops of food coloring into the solution.
- Suspend Your Star: Using a pencil or stick, suspend your star in the center of the glass jar.
- Pour In the Solution: Slowly pour the Borax solution into the jar until your star is fully submerged.
- Let It Sit: Place the jar in a safe, undisturbed location and leave it overnight.
- Remove and Rinse: After crystals have formed, carefully remove the star from the solution and rinse it gently with cool water.
- Dry and Display: Let your crystal star dry completely; it’s now ready to be displayed or gifted!
