Description
Learn to grow beautiful crystals on seashells using simple materials and a saturated solution.
Ingredients
- Clean, empty seashells (various sizes)
- Epsom salt or sugar
- Boiling water
- Food coloring (optional)
- Small containers (like jars or cups)
- Spoon for stirring
- Tray or surface to catch spills
Instructions
- Heat water to boiling and pour it into a container.
- Add Epsom salt or sugar gradually, stirring until dissolved. Aim for a saturated solution. If using food coloring, add a few drops to your solution.
- Rinse and dry seashells thoroughly to remove any residue. Place them upright in small containers.
- Carefully pour the hot solution into each container, ensuring seashells are well submerged.
- Place containers on a tray and leave them undisturbed in a cool area. Observe daily as crystals begin to form.
- After 2-3 days, inspect your crystals. Gently remove seashells and rinse under cool water to remove excess salt or sugar.
Notes
Experiment with food coloring for vibrant crystals and try different types of shells for unique designs.
