Ingredients
- Four 100 g skeins of worsted weight (weight 4, medium) yarn, about 170 yards per skein
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Small amount of black worsted weight yarn for the eyes, nose, and whiskers
- Approximately 1 ounce (28 g) of polyester fiberfill

Instructions
- Chain 19 to make a foundation chain for the body of the scarf.
- Begin the first row in the second chain from the hook with half double crochet (hdc).
- Work one hdc in each chain across the row, chain 1 for the turning chain, and turn.
- Continue to work the body in rows of hdc until you have 150 rows, checking that the fabric measures about 60 inches (152 cm) long.
- Fasten off the body and leave a 12-inch (30 cm) tail for attaching the head.
- Make the cat head by chaining 17 and working one hdc in the second chain from the hook and across for 16 stitches.
- Work 10 rows of hdc for the head.
- Shape the first ear by working 8 hdc across, chain 1, and turn. Decrease to 7 stitches and then continue decreasing until 3 stitches remain.
- Fasten off the ear and repeat for the second ear.
- Join the ears to the head, add a small amount of polyester fiberfill, and close the final seam.
- Embroider the eyes, nose, mouth, and whiskers.
- Make the tail at the opposite end by chaining 18, working slip stitches back to the scarf, and fastening off.
- Attach the cat head to one end of the scarf using small, even stitches.
- Weave in all remaining ends.
