Description
This project yields a small crochet ghost with an orange witch hat, perfect for seasonal decorations or gifts. The gentle rhythm of crocheting makes it a soothing craft to enjoy over a few cozy evenings.
Ingredients
- About 85 yards of white worsted weight yarn, weight 4 medium
- About 35 yards of orange worsted weight yarn, weight 4 medium
- One H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- One yarn needle
- Small scissors
- One stitch marker (optional)
- One tape measure
- About 1 ounce of polyester fiberfill
- Black embroidery thread (or small safety eyes)
- A blunt tapestry needle (if needed)
Instructions
- Make a foundation chain of 28 chains with white yarn.
- Turn your work, skip the first chain, and work 27 single crochet stitches across.
- Chain 1 to turn, then work 1 single crochet in each stitch across for a total of 20 rows.
- Join the short ends together using slip stitches to form a tube.
- Stuff the body lightly with polyester fiberfill.
- Flatten the open top and work 13 single crochet stitches across both layers to close it.
- Attach white yarn to the bottom edge to create a lower ruffle with 3 single crochet stitches into every other edge stitch around.
- Make the hat with orange yarn using a magic ring and working 6 single crochet into the ring.
- Increase to 12 stitches, then to 18 stitches for the hat.
- Work the brim using half double crochet around the base of the hat.
- Sew the hat to the ghost's body.
- Embroider the face with black embroidery thread.
